Rina Goodman, J.D. - Mediation for Families & Family Businesses

Transforming Conflict, LLC focuses exclusively on family mediation.  We can help you achieve satisfying, workable solutions for conflicts having to do with marriage, divorce, adult sibling relationships, probate, estate planning, elder care planning, and family business succession.

About Rina:

Before entering the field of mediation, I represented plaintiffs in wrongful death cases arising out of airline disasters.  As a plaintiff’s trial lawyer, I worked on complex legal and financial issues pertaining to damages and facilitated multi-million dollar settlements for a number of my clients.  I also co-authored the winning brief for a landmark case, Administrator, Federal Aviation Administration v. National Transportation Safety Board and Richard A. Rolund, 57 F.3d 1144 (D.C.Cir. 1995), and served as second-chair at oral argument.

My litigation experience has taught me that the human costs of the adversarial process (e.g., loss of self-determination and opportunities for healing) cannot possibly measure up to the immensely satisfying experience of creating win/win solutions through the collaborative process of mediation.

Currently, I am serving as Secretary to the Executive Committee of the Washington State Bar Association's ADR Section, chair the ADR Section's Education Sub-Committee, and participate on the NW ADR Conference Planning Committee.  I am also a mentor mediator for the Dispute Resolution Center of King County.

Professional Recognition:

Throughout my professional career as a lawyer and mediator, I have been commended by employers, clients, associates, and judges for my professional knowledge, integrity, and commitment.  In 2007 I was recognized by the KCDRC as Mediator of the Year.
